Being that this is a dirt-first bicycle blog, you may be thinking “wait, what?” – well, let me explain.
Hearn Avenue is an important overcrossing for folks living in Santa Rosa’s South West quadrant – especially those with slick OR knobby tires who might want to get over the freeway on their way towards dirt parks to the East, such as Taylor Mountain or Annadel. Exactly how bicycles, in general, will be accommodated on the NEW Hearn Avenue overcrossing is a *VERY* Important issue to many of our bicycle riding compatriots. So. That’s why. Caltrans, in cooperation with the City of Santa Rosa and SCTA, is proposing to modify and reconstruct the US 101/Hearn Avenue interchange. The project would replace the existing Hearn Avenue overcrossing bridge with a new bridge to accommodate four traffic lanes with bike lanes and sidewalks on both sides of the roadway.
